ハンナの母親アシュリーは、警官を殺害した容疑で逮捕され、刑務所に入れられてしまいました。ところが、なぜかモナが殺害を自供したため話が変わってきました。
ハンナと弁護士のヴェロニカが刑務所でアシュリーと面会しているシーンです。
アシュリー: Nobody confesses to a murder they didn't commit.
(やってないのに自白なんてするわけないわ。)
ハンナ: I think Mona was just trying to help.
(モナはママを助けようとしたんだと思う。)
アシュリー: You send care packages with fresh soap and new underwear if you want to help; you don't volunteer to spend your life in prison.
(石鹸とか下着とかの差し入れならわかるけど、身代わりに刑務所に入る人はいないわ。)
ヴェロニカ: Whatever Mona was trying to do, she certainly got judge Reilly's attention.

おわりに
"corroborate" は「証拠をあげて裏付ける」という意味です。刑事モノ、法廷モノでよく出てきます。ラテン語の com- (“together”) + rōborō (“strengthen”) が語源だそうです。
